Opening Night

Opening Night went very well. People had a good time both up in the function room and looking around at the paintings in the other rooms. There was a real "buzz" in the air. I'd just like to say thank you to all those who showed up in support of my artwork. Since opening night, I've been my task-oriented self, trying to think up ideas for the next big exhibition; I'm thinking of something with 3-D and 2-D, within an installation, based around a central theme. The mind boggles, in a good way.

The Set-up

Hi,

Today my housemate Kathy helped me set up my "Colourful Personalities" Exhibition at Parade Cafe. It took two hours, but we were really happy with the result. Each of the three rooms I exhibit in has a sense of balance and I'd like to think those paintings are quite eye-catching for the customers there. The opening night celebrations, tomorrow at 5:30, will be very exciting indeed. It looks like there will be a good turn-out. Everyone will have fun, and enjoy the drinks and nibbles. Look for me tomorrow night; I'll be the one in the black dress with the fur wrap ;)

Artist's Statement

I'm inspired by the positivity in mankind; no matter how bad or strange a situation is, many people are still able to see the good in it, and that's what feeds my creativity. While I like to paint landscapes and objects associated with rich memories and sensations, this artwork is currently centred around people. My subjects live stories that inspire me; I learn something from each person that I'd like to share with viewers. Sometimes I see the images in dreams, but more often I'll look at something or someone that is outwardly ordinary and my mind and heart will know just which colours, textures, and shapes could describe what has captured to me. I'll know whether a subtle watercolour technique or bold oil paints will work best. Those who have inspired me have helped me to grow and I'd like to help others by sharing my journey as well.

Inspirations

Inspirations
Australian swimming sensation, Ian Thorpe, is someone I don't really know much about, but I know that once he admitted he wasn't necessarily a talented swimmer; instead, he just worked really hard for what he achieved. I've remembered that and have slowly absorbed it over the years.
